VIEWPOINT: Big Society Capital – Any reason to be excited?

Next Wednesday (18th April) @ 5-6pm in the View Café, Civic Offices, Portsmouth City Council

Two weeks after the long awaited launch of Big Society Capital, we’ll be getting together to discuss and share ideas on whether this latest news is something to get excited about and whether it might have a positive impact on the social enterprises and charities in Portsmouth.

Simon Frost, CEO of Parity Trust, will be joining us to give his thoughts on the latest news.  Here’s a snippet from his latest blog:
‘… the launch of this new institution is very timely. The Government is looking to the charitable and the social enterprise sector to increasingly take on the delivery of public services and also come up with innovative new ideas which promote social cohesion, increase employment and retain jobs, promote the use of renewable technologies and improve the everyday lives of people who live in our communities. So it’s quite a challenge, but encouraging that there is a potential source of funds for these ambitious goals to be realised.’

Come along and join an open and informal session of debate, and feel free to pass this invite on to anyone else that you think might be interested.

Tea and coffee will be provided + a biscuit if you're lucky:)
