Have you ever wondered what happens to your household waste?

Portsmouth ERF, MRF and Collections

Residents in Portsmouth and neighbouring areas are invited to take a look behind the scenes at Portsmouth’s Energy Recovery Facility, Materials Recovery Facility and the collections depot on Monday 29 October. Veolia Environmental Services, operators of the sites, will be holding the special Open Day and all visitors are welcome
.
The event is designed to show how an energy-from-waste facility works and turns waste into a resource.

During the day visitors can experience:
·                     A behind-the-scenes tour of the three facilities
·                     A visit to the ERF control room
·                     Educational games for younger visitors

Energy Recovery Facility Manager, Charles Winterburn of Veolia Environmental Services said:
“We think this is a great opportunity for our neighbours and local residents to come and explore what happens at our sites. We hope people will come to meet us and gain an inside view on how we are working behind the scenes on their behalf!”

Portsmouth Energy Recovery Facility is part of the Project Integra network of waste management infrastructure, designed to handle Hampshire’s household waste and recycling.  In Hampshire just 10% of our waste is sent to landfill – topping the league tables for waste diverted from landfill.

If you would like to come to the open day at the Portsmouth Facilities in Copnor on Monday 29 October, please email HampshireEnquiries@veolia.co.uk or call 0203 567 3083 by 15 October to book your tour time.
