The Learning Place are providing a series of Work Skills courses and services from January

First Steps to Employment

If you have recently finished college and are looking for work this course can help. Learn about business and customer awareness, job searching, team working, CVs, interview practice. It is an accredited course leading to an award in employability skills. It is free if you are between 19 and 24 years old. Held Monday mornings 10am to 12 noon term time only at The Learning Place. Employability course

Searching for a job and going for interviews can be a daunting task. This course will help you develop the skills you need to ensure you are noticed by employers. Get help with your CV, job searches, interview practice and much more. You need to be able to use a mouse and keyboard for this course. 5 week course starts Wednesday 16th January from 6pm – 9pm at The Learning Place. Please phone 023 9262 1860 to enrol.

The Work and Learning Shop

Do you want help with.......

• Job searching, writing applications and interview techniques?
• Guidance and tips on writing a CVs and covering letters?
• Access to the latest available jobs in Portsmouth and the surrounding area?
• Support to get back into work or get you the job you want?
• The use of computers/Laptops to access the internet for on line job search?

then come to The Learning Place to the ‘Work and Learning Shop’. Drop-in sessions are available Monday’s 3.30pm to 4.45pm and Thursday’s 9.30am to 12.00 noon.

Online Support at Job Centre Plus

If you would like support with:

• Claiming for JSA using the online option
• Applying for jobs online
• Creating email accounts
• Registering with the Government Gateway

then book an appointment at Job Centre Plus, Arundel Street to see one of our helpers. Available alternate Wednesday’s (starting January 9th) from 10am.
