Speakers Confirmed for Milton Forum

Milton Neighbourhood Forum this Wednesday will receive an update from both First Buses and Portsmouth City Council.

Danny Johnson, Passenger Transport Officer, Portsmouth City Council, Sherisse Shelton-Smith, Business Manager (First Buses) and Ian Woodcock Staff Manager (First Buses) will give the latest information on proposed changes to the local 13/14 Service.

There will also be a chance to learn more about plans for development at the St James Hospital campus. 
Ted Griggs and Andy Strange from Estates & Facilities Management, NHS Portsmouth with Mike Allgrove, Assistant Head of Planning, Portsmouth City Council will attend to take your questions.

The meeting will be held at Mary Rose School, Gisors Road (off Locksway Road), Milton on Wednesday 7th March 2012 at 7pm.

The role of education in promoting transgender equality - Question-time radio debate

Portsmouth City Council and the University of Portsmouth hosted a question-time radio debate on a topic of ‘Role of education in promoting transgender equality’ on 20th February 2012. 

The distinguished debate panel comprised of Portsmouth City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Education and representatives from Hampshire Constabulary, The Harbour School, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, and Criminal Justice Studies at the University of Portsmouth.
 
The debate centred around transphobic bullying at schools and the Central Government’s plan to give educational establishments greater powers and better guidance on addressing transphobia in schools.

Politics at the Pyramids- "The BIG 3" Debate




A Politics and Debating Society at University of Portsmouth Students Union, Conservative Future, Labour Students and Liberal Democrats are hosting a joint event
:

"The BIG 3" Debate on Friday 2nd of March, 7.30pm at the Pyramids Lesuire Centre, Southsea.

Students and members of the local community will have the opportunity to hear from representatives from all three of the main political parties and their views
on a range of topical issues.

The panel:

  • David Willetts, Conservative MP for Havant and Universities Minister
  • Labour Activist, Graham Heaney
  • Portsmouth City Council Leader, Liberal Democrat, Cllr Gerald Vernon-Jackson.

You will be able to ask questions to the panel members over budget cuts, higher education and any other local or national issues.

This Is an event hosted by the Politics and Debating Society in conjunction with the 'Take Part' programme.
