Portsmouth City Council and the University of Portsmouth
hosted a question-time radio debate on a topic of ‘Role of education in
promoting transgender equality’ on 20th February 2012.
The
distinguished debate panel comprised of Portsmouth City Council’s Portfolio
Holder for Education and representatives from Hampshire Constabulary, The
Harbour School, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, and Criminal
Justice Studies at the University of Portsmouth.
The debate centred around transphobic bullying at schools and the Central Government’s plan to give educational establishments greater powers and better guidance on addressing transphobia in schools.
