Recruitment drive for Victim Support Volunteer Visitors (South East Hampshire)

About the opportunity

This exciting rewarding role is to provide a structured face to face support service to victims of crime in their homes or a safe meeting location (depending upon the home visit risk assessment). Volunteering can fit in with work/family commitments as long as regular contact with the client is maintained.

A time commitment of approximately 2 - 4 hours per week for at least 2 years is expected, Full training and support is provided, along with out of pocket expenses.

The training is four full days where the volunteer will learn about the impact of crime and the basics of supporting victims of core crime (Burglary, theft, criminal damage, and assault).  Volunteers have the opportunity to learn, experience, and develop as individuals whilst being part of a team. Opportunities for enhanced specialist training for serious crime cases involving Domestic Abuse, Sexual Violence/abuse, and Homicide are available for volunteers who have the commitment and ability to undertake this enhanced service.

Interviews will take place shortly before core training events in the spring and autumn terms and you will work under the direct supervision of a local manager.
