Energy Talks for local groups
Neil Richardson works for Southern Electric in a unique role helping local residents with energy
related issues. He offers impartial energy advice to local residents, including:
- energy efficiency
- tariff Information
- best ways to pay for your energy
- what energy companies can offer vulnerable customers
- advice on falling behind on payment.
Neil gives energy talks to local groups, runs drop in energy clinic's at local centres, gives home
visits and offers help over the phone.
He is not allowed to sell Southern Electric's products; just give advice and help.

Proposed Osborne Road improvements
In 2012, Portsmouth City Council were successful in a bid for funding to promote local sustainable transport within the Southsea area. The project is focused on improving the shopping areas in Southsea by providing higher priority to walking, cycling and public transport.
By working with local businesses, the council have developed the plans available to download here (Southsea town centre improvements - online survey ) - but now they would like your thoughts on the proposed improvements.
They are also keen to gather feedback and comments on the proposals to extend the existing pedestrian zone of Palmerston Road.
Please tell them what you like, dislike and any ideas you have for further improvements by using the link above and completing the online survey before Wednesday 31 July 2013.
It is hoped that work can commence in January 2014.

Information and plans of proposals to be displayed within Southsea Library located in Palmerston Road precinct

A drop-in session to be held at St Jude’s Church, Southsea from 2pm – 8pm with officers and Councillors in attendance to answer any questions

Council Budget Consultation Session
Come along to the Portsmouth City Council's budget consultation session at the Council Chamber on Monday 4th February 2013 to get an overview of the Council’s proposed budget for 2013/14.
This public session will be held between 6pm and 8pm in the Council Chamber, The Guildhall, Guildhall Square, Portsmouth.
Cllr Gerald Vernon-Jackson, Leader of Portsmouth City Council and Chris Ward, Head of Finance will be in attendance to give a short presentation and answer any questions. There is no need to book.

Focus on Health: Living with Asthma and Allergy

This event gives sufferers and their families the opportunity to hear from various professionals who will showcase the latest research, treatment and thinking around asthma and allergies. A scientist, a GP, a hospital clinician and representative from a patient support group will each give short talks and take questions. One in four people in the UK live with asthma and allergies, which means that almost every family has someone or knows someone who suffers, and the number is rising. All are welcome to attend.

Find out more about Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust’s Diabetes services
The Trust’s Diabetes services are nationally recognised as some of the best in the country.
Patients with diabetes are twice as likely to be admitted to hospital. They have a length of stay twice that of non-diabetic patients and higher complications rates.
At the next public constituency meetings for Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust’s Council of Governors, a consultant from the Diabetes department will be giving a presentation on Diabetes and the Trust’s Diabetes services.
Constituency meetings are held twice a year; to give Trust members and members of the public an opportunity to share their opinions of the hospital with Trust Governors and to enjoy an interesting presentation from one of their clinicians. All are welcome.

Flames & Finance at Baffins Forum

The next meeting of the Baffins Neighbourhood Forum will be a bit different.
As well as holding an Annual General Meeting (AGM), the forum will be hosting an open workshop on the community engagement blog and how social media can be used to organise activities in the local community.
Hampshire Fire & Rescue service's community contact point (CCP) will be at Langstone Jnr School from 6pm for a drop-in session. Come and join us if you have a local issue you want to raise or would like to get up to speed on the forum's growing on-line presence. If you would like to get more involved with the Baffins Forum and take on a committee role- Now's your chance!
The AGM will be held at 7.30pm and is open to nominations from local residents. If you are interested in a post please contact Forum Secretary, Allan Nevett on 023 92 610 541 or email: bnhfsec@gmail.com
Fire service colleagues will be on hand to provide practical fire safety advice for your home, as well as giving a short talk at 7pm on fire prevention. Hampshire Police will also join us to update the forum and answer your questions. The CCP also has Sky TV on board and we will be showing video presentations throughout the evening.
From 7.45pm in the school there will be a Question & Answers session with Roger Ching, the city council's finance director. Roger will take all your questions about the 2011 budget and the forecast for next year.

The Portsmouth Local Involvement Network (LINk) is a group of residents who are interested in bringing about improvements to Health and Social Care Services available in the City.
The LINk has a special interest in reaching all sections of the Community and to this end they extend an offer to attend meetings in order to deliver a short presentation (or informal talk) about the aims of the LINk and how to get involved.
