Let’s sort it out!

Complete the survey and win £50 of shopping

Your household could be one of 5,000 randomly selected to be asked about rubbish, recycling and street cleaning.

By filling out the short survey you can have your say and suggest improvements to how your waste and street cleaning services are provided. It’s very important that you reply and don’t leave it up to somebody else.

If you don’t receive a hard copy of the survey, but would like to take part, please complete the online version.

The Big Tree Plant funding

The Big Tree Plant£4.2m is available to support community groups to plant trees in towns, cities and residential areas throughout England.

The funding is for community and civic groups, or other non-profit organisations to establish community-led tree planting projects in areas that would benefit most.

The trees must be planted in streets or in green places that are open to all to visit or where local people will benefit from them. Whoever owns the land must give permission and support to the project, and there must be a plan to care for trees after they are planted.

Groups working in areas where more trees would help to improve residents’ quality of life are strongly encouraged to apply for the funding.

Apply for Big Tree Plant funding

To apply for the Big Tree Plant funding you need to download the application form, fill it in with the details of your scheme and return it by email to the address given on the form.
The next application deadline will be in September 2011, the Grants Panel will meet soon afterwards.
There are guidance notes in the application form to help you apply.
To contact The Big Tree Plant funding scheme administrator call 0800 856 7984

Scambuster

Scams are schemes to con you out of your money.

They usually come by post, phone or email.

There are hundreds of scams – fake lotteries and prize draws, get-rich-quick schemes, bogus health cures, investment scams, pyramid selling. The list goes on.

Every year, three million people fall victim in the UK, often losing hundreds or even thousands of pounds. The scammers are clever, and all kinds of people from all walks of life get duped. There’s a scam for everyone – no matter how alert or clued up you think you are.

This helpful guide produced by the Office of Fair Trading, gives advice on how to spot, report and protect yourself from scams.
